Twenty hectares of freedom at your disposal. The family's devotion is evident in the institution of the Morgadio in 1641, through the attachment of the Chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres. In addition to the Chapel, it is possible to appreciate and visit the spring of the house, traces of the original gardens that extend from the majestic cedar tunnel and the rose garden that offers contrasting colors and aromas with the rational design of the boxwood gardens. The vegetable garden gives meaning to a complex ecosystem that respects natural cycles and the conditions of environmental balance. The visit can be accompanied by an audio guide.

This type of visit gives you free access to the Casa de Mateus Park and Chapel, including some of the National Monument's interior spaces such as the old Frasqueira and Casa das Batatas. You can also visit the gardens, vegetable garden and vineyards, including the open-air vineyard museum and the forest. NOTE: The Chapel is only open from April to October, so outside this period, you should ask to book your visit when you buy your ticket.

The gardens of Casa de Mateus are included in the Douro Route of the Portuguese Historic Gardens Association.
